Privacy Policy - Filament Shelf

Last Updated: August 7, 2026

Overview

Filament Shelf is a local-first inventory for 3D-printing filament. This policy explains how the app handles inventory content, optional device permissions, and limited technical information used to understand reliability and core workflow completion.

Information We Collect

Filament Shelf stores filament products, physical spool records, remaining-weight estimates, storage locations, custom labels and tags, captured barcode or NFC values, optional reference photos, reminders, and settings in the app's private storage on your device. The current release does not require an account and does not upload this inventory content to a WittyApps server.

Firebase Analytics may process a Firebase installation identifier and limited app or device information, including app version, platform, locale, and privacy-limited events that describe whether a feature or workflow completed. Events use coarse values such as count or reminder-duration buckets. They are designed not to contain brands, materials, colors, weights, barcode or NFC values, storage locations, photos, server addresses, search text, or exported file contents.

Firebase Crashlytics may process crash traces, installation and session identifiers, app version, operating-system and device information, and related diagnostics needed to identify and repair failures. Filament Shelf does not intentionally attach inventory content or screenshots to crash reports.

How We Use Information

Inventory content is used on your device to provide search, spool management, storage-location tracking, reminders, backup, restore, and export features. Limited analytics and crash information is used to understand whether core workflows work, diagnose failures, and improve the app. We do not use inventory content for advertising and the current release contains no advertising SDK.

Data Storage

Inventory content remains in the app's private local storage. A recovery copy may also be kept locally so an interrupted save can be restored safely. JSON backups, CSV exports, and shared files are created only when you request them. After export or sharing, the file is handled by the destination app, service, or storage location you choose and is no longer controlled by Filament Shelf.

Permissions and Device Features

Camera or photo access is requested only when you choose to capture a barcode or attach a reference image. NFC access is used only when you start an NFC capture. Notification permission is requested only for reminders you enable. Denying an optional permission leaves the rest of the inventory available, while the related capture or reminder feature may be unavailable.

Third-Party Services

The current release uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. Google may process technical data on global infrastructure under its applicable terms and privacy practices. Firebase's current privacy and security information is available at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy/.

Filament Shelf does not sell paid products in the current release and does not send purchase data to RevenueCat. If payments, cloud synchronization, or another network integration is enabled in a future release, this policy will be updated before that feature is made available.

Your Rights

You can edit or delete inventory records in the app, export an app-owned backup, and remove local app data by using available deletion controls or uninstalling the app, subject to your device's backup settings. You can deny optional permissions in system settings. For questions or requests concerning limited analytics or crash information, contact us using the address below.
